Riga’s Hidden Gem – Trio Kebabs

My history with kebabs

If you ever come to Poland, you will notice that in larger cities, there is a kebab store around almost every corner. However, in smaller cities (like the one where I am from), you will find some hidden gems as well. Believe it or not, there are even YouTubers who have gotten famous for travelling across Poland and reviewing different serving kebabs (and not only), with the most recognizable right now being Książulo.

Therefore, it should come as no surprise that over the years, I have tried countless spots with various ideas of what a best kebab should be.

My search for perfection in Riga

As soon as I set foot in the Latvian capital, I knew that I wanted to explore the local kebab scene, because while doing my research on activities beforehand, I had seen a lot of pins on Google Maps with “Kebabs” in the name.

Usually, each week I would find a spot (either just by exploring the city on foot, a recommendation from friends, or aforementioned Maps) that I would note down in my notes. Then I would go there on Saturday during lunch time and order the most basic version of a wrap/rollo/lavash, or however else they might call a kebab with vegetables and sauces wrapped in a flatbread.

So far, I have tested around 8 different places, and I am pretty sure that I have found a hidden gem that might be a tough one to beat for other places.

A hidden gem in the suburb

Trio Kebabs is a small place located in the Latgale Suburb (about 15 minutes by trolleybus from the center) and is a relatively new place on the map of Rīga.

Despite my not being able to find an exact date of opening, the oldest reviews on Google Maps were posted in January 2026, which is the same time as the creation of their Instagram account. Therefore, we can conclude that the place has been running only for 3 months [at the time of writing this review].

While commuting to the university by bus, I have seen this place multiple times before realizing that it was a kebab store (again, thanks Google Maps), since the facade offers only a big sticker on one of the windows and an “open” sign on the doorway.

Don’t judge a book by its cover

What is most important in a restaurant is obviously the food. And the food here is phenomenal.

First of all, the price is in fact “student-friendly” as for just 5.90 euros, you can get a Lavash kebab, which is significantly bigger than some that I have gotten for 7-ish euros in the city center.

However, size is not all, as the flavor is on point as well. They have bet on a very simple, but perfectly made composition of vegetables (cabbage with carrot, tomato, and cucumber), meat, and sauces.

I want to especially praise the latter, as it is the first place where I have felt that both the garlic sauce and the hot sauces are perfectly balanced and do not overshadow each other. Additionally, this has been one of the few spots that actually use a real lavash when naming the dish “Lavašā kebabs”, while in most cases you leave sad with a tortilla. Add to that that they definitely know their way around meat, and you get the (probably) best kebab in Rīga.

If you have time and want to visit a less touristy spot, give Trio a try, I guarantee that you won’t regret it. If you have any other favorites, let me know in the comments.
